A man with a mission
Part of the letter from Wijnand Boon for Queen Beatrix based on her speech about the negative impact of social media on the Dutch society.
” You spoke about the decline of our sense of community, the lack of social responsibility and the influence of the internet and social media in modern society, but your vision was not shared by everyone, including me.”
Wijnand decided to undertake a pelgrim journey to protest against the speech of the Dutch Queen.
With his presence on twitter and Facebook he has a growing fanbase. Food and shelter is arranged via (re)tweets and facebook updates. The point Wijnand wants to make is that online conversations lead to offline meet-ups, which is the opposite of Queen Beatrix message.Wijnand sold his house and quit his job to undertake the 1,5 year pelgrim journey.
